Pregnancy, Health & Home Safety

Prepare for childbirth, childproof your home, plan family meals, and keep up with medical and dental care.

A pregnant white woman practices swaddling while a direct support professional demonstrates the next step beside her.

What this looks like

This covers what keeps your family healthy and safe: preparing for childbirth if you are expecting, making your home safe for your child's age, knowing what to do when something goes wrong, planning meals your family will actually eat, and getting everyone to their appointments.

How we teach it

  • Prepare for pregnancy, childbirth, and bringing your baby home
  • Walk your home room by room and fix hazards together
  • Practice what to do for a fever, a fall, a burn, and when to call 911
  • Plan and cook meals that fit your budget and your family's needs
  • Schedule and prepare for medical and dental visits for you and your child

A real session

We walk your apartment together, looking at it from your toddler's height. Outlet covers go in, cleaning supplies move up, the crib moves away from the window cord. Then we write your pediatrician, poison control, and 911 on a card by the phone and practice out loud what you would say.
