Money Management & Budgeting

Build a real budget, manage a checking account, and make confident decisions about your own money.

A white woman works through her personal budget while a support professional coaches at the kitchen table.

What this looks like

Your money is yours. Our job is to help you understand it and use it the way you want. We work with you on the basics — reading a bank statement, paying a bill, tracking spending, saving for a goal — and on the bigger picture: building a budget that reflects your real life, your real needs, and the things you want to do.

How we teach it

  • Build a personal budget around your actual income and expenses
  • Practice using a debit card, ATM, and online banking safely
  • Review monthly statements together and spot any errors
  • Plan for monthly bills, occasional expenses, and savings goals
  • Recognize and avoid common financial scams targeting adults with disabilities

A real session

We sit down at your kitchen table with your most recent bank statement, a few receipts, and a notebook. You review the past two weeks of spending, identify what surprised you, and decide one thing to adjust for the coming week. Before we leave, you've paid one bill online or scheduled one transfer to your savings.
